User Defined Time Based Sessions

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Allow Users to choose session length up to an admin defined Max

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

We use Privilege Secure (PS) to mostly add / remove users from AD groups. Because All access is AD group driven, this allows us to leverage PS for access not natively supported. But users can’t extend their sessions this way.

Rather than the connection profiles defining a duration, I would prefer the connection profile to define a maximum duration and have an “Auto” or “User” setting. When the user creates a session, they should be able to select their own duration in 30-minute increments [XX]H [YY]M up to the admin defined maximum duration. Currently they go through 5 steps: Activity Selection, Resource Selection, Notes, Scheduling, Review. I’d like to see a 6th step for “Duration”. Or simply add this to Step 1 or 2.

So, if a user needs 1 hour, or 3.5 hours, or 8 hours, they can choose that. Admins can set a maximum to limit long sessions if they choose. The maximum should be displayed for the user like “Please choose a duration (3H 30m max)”

We can just make all sessions 8 hours, but that’s not best practice, especially when the user just needs 30 minutes.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Currently we have MANY Activities with 1H 3H 5H and 8H connection profiles. We put the 1H 3H etc. in the activity name and the users can select the most appropriate one. This works, but it’s VERY tedious to maintain and we have 4 times as many activities as we should need.
