We encountered some problems that required us to reboot the server, which is hosted on vSphere. We first powered off the server and, after some time, powered it back on. However, when we launched the server’s web console through vSphere, we were prompted for a password.
We do not believe it is requesting the console password, but we attempted the available credentials nonetheless. Unfortunately, none of them worked. We then repeated the process of powering off and on the server, after which the server displayed the GRUB menu and is now prompting for a password again.
