Revamp the user-policy assignment when server is down

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Revamp the user-policy assignment when server is down

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

We discovered a massive design flaw when it comes to policy assignments when the EPP server is down. In case of emergency is UNBELIEVABLE critical that all the policies for the users are still working correctly when the epp server is down - and I absolutely do not understand that the current behaviour is seen as “intended” and not as bug. Ticket#00461248

We have set up our policies according to ad-groups. Users in group A have different rights than users in group B.
Current behaviour, explanation fom the support: “In case of inability to connect to the server the EPP client will apply the last rules received from the server. If it happens that those rules applied to a specific user (different than the current user) the client might apply the last global/group rights that it received from the server.”
→ that means, if we want to log in as admin on the client in case of emergency then this admin does not have the rights he should have, instead he has the last global/group rights that it received from the server.
Behaviour should be: The epp client should store every right/policy assignment for every user he knows locally, so in case of inability of the server all policies for every user are applied correctly - even if you change users on the client!

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

hope that we do not have a longer lasting emergency

Hello,

Thank you for taking time to register your improvement idea.

We will analyze our current technical capabilities for improving this behavior and will let you know the conclusion once there’s an update.

Hi Simona,

and here we have it.
We currently have a longer lasting outage of the epp server(Ticket#00466266) and now the permissions do not get rightly applied to the users.

I hope you can help to improve this behaviour in the future!
