In some installations we see some clients freezing randomly. Not in all installations but in some. I am just wondering how common this issue is and if there are other installations were this issue is comming up out there. And perhaps we know already a bit more regarding the issue.
Thanks for every feedback/hint for a solution or a workaround. Or other Ideas.
We have experienced this with some customers as well.
It seems that the needed resources for the fat client were increased, on PCs with 8 cores and 16 GB RAM it seems to work pretty good but less resources seem to slow down the fat client heavily.
We could not see any issues related to installed Windows updates, the OS on those affected clients was a Windows 11 23H2 and 24H4
Thanks for info. Me personally I have this issue also. 10 Cores and 32GB Ram. I am not sure if it is a performance related issue but I will monitor. I also have the issue mosty but not only if I switch network connection from LAN to WLAN or back. But I also have it if I am stable connected through Ethernet.
We see the issue also directy on the App Server Host (Fat Client installed on the App Server connected to the local App Server Host). So I think also it must not be network related.
I also dont think it’s a network related issue. Other applications work fine but the fat client is slow.
I also install the fat client on the app server and there the application wasnt the fastest from the beginning of version 8 - it got even slower through versions though.
On a VM I think the lack of a GPU is causing the issue because compared to a PC or Laptop with a GPU (also if it’s included in the CPU) makes the client at least a little faster.
I personally have the hunch that the Microsoft GUI framework is scaling very bad. Our CRM also uses that framework and that is also pretty slow. It gets better with higher CPU cores but also with higher GHz
Same problem here. Fat client become unresposable and need to use task manager to kill it from time to time.
Always connected via LAN, 32GB RAM, 12 Cores.
Problem occured first time 2-3 month ago. Happens ~2-3 times per month.
Thanks for all your input on this topic. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
We know this current situation with the Windows App isn’t optimal, and we’re sorry for the frustration it’s causing. Even though we haven’t been able to reproduce the issue on our side, we think we’ve found a possible cause. We’ve sent a test version to a customer who’s been seeing the problem and are now waiting to hear back.
We’ll share an update as soon as we have more information. Thanks again for your patience and for sticking with us.
