Installing Cloud Client and CSE Concurrently

Does anyone use SCCM to deploy the cloud client and CSE client to there users endpoint?

does anyone face any challengers with install the cloud client and then CSE concurrently? i was getting mixed results… does one need to be installed first then the other?

Also does the cloud client version need to higher or same as the CSE?

Smart method is to put the CSE on first… then the cloud client.

By doing so you save the cloud client ALSO having to download the CSE from the cloud server.

The cloud client and the CSE are not related, versionwise… but we always recommend latest on both whenever possible.

Final tip: If your CLOUD GROUP says the CSE version is OLDER than what’s on the machine, then the cloud client wont try to upgrade, say, a NEWER CSE already on the endpoint.

So… in order:

  1. Set your CLIENT GROUP for CSE version to something OLDER than what you plan on your endpoints…
  2. Deploy the CSE (newest) to your endpoints.
  3. Deploy the cloud client to your endpoints and skip the cloud download.

Thank you, we will test this out. Is it advised then to turn off ‘not-configured’ once got everyone to the latest cse?

Sure - turning off Not Configured will ensure that the endpoints in that specific Company Group receive a consistent CSE version. It’s generally a best practice to keep endpoints on a known, tested CSE version so any future troubleshooting and support stay predictable.
