Email notification when errors occur

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Currently, you can only configure notifications for when no events are received within a certain timeframe, but there’s no notification for errors. This is based on customer feedback - when there are connection errors between NAM and NetApp, there’s no notification, which prevents us from addressing issues promptly.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

The temporary workaround is to use scheduled API calls to retrieve host status.

Thank you for your feedback. This is a really valuable idea that could enhance the usefulness of our Inactivity Alerts feature.

Our current thinking for this feature includes:

  • The product would disregard transient errors, but if an error persists for “X” minutes, a syslog or email notification would be sent.
  • For ongoing issues, this notification would repeat every “Y” hours/minutes.
  • Similar to Inactivity Alerts, this feature could be enabled for the agent and configured for specific NetApp hosts.
  • Similar to Inactivity Alerts, the notification template can be customized.

Does this align with your expectations for the feature?

We are adding this to our roadmap. I’m afraid we cannot provide an estimated delivery date at this time, but we will keep you updated on our progress.
