Ability to Select Linked Mode as Default Setting for Users within the Portal

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Linked Mode feature allows a User to Manage Users / Groups across different Directory services using single Authentication.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

The Linked Mode feature in Directory Manager is one of the most important features for Prospects and Existing Customers as it offers the ability to link two separate Identity Stores, for example, Entra Tenant A with Tenant B or between Microsoft AD and Google or Mixing LDAP with another directory service.

This feature provides immense value especially in cloud environments which do not extend the ability to create a trust, unlike Active Directory. Linked Mode is the option which allows a User to Authenticate in Domain A and see Groups/Users in Domain B via single Authentication.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Currently in NDM 11.1.5 Linked Mode settings require enablement manually by a User once they are allowed. This is a tedious task for a non-technical user, and Prospects and Customers are asking for an option to set this as default for their audience.

A prospect that requires this capability for all of their user base, and it can act as a showstopper. In order to enforce this setting, we require a lot of scripting to identify the user and then change their settings in SQL database in multiple tables.

Umer, thank you for the detailed feedback. We understand that Linked Mode is a critical capability for managing users and groups across multiple directory services with a single authentication, and that requiring each user to manually enable it creates friction. This request has been added to our backlog, and we’ll share updates with the community as we gain better clarity on a release that includes this enhancement.
