Update only the Item that was changed

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Instead of refreshing all File Server items(sources) when one is modified and saved, only update the item that was modified.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Any time I make a change to a single File Server item (Computer), the status of ALL of the items in the monitoring plan go to “Working”. This is overkill as changing the configuration for a single computer item should not affect the others. This is compounded if I did not get the config update correct on the first try and then I have to modify my single item again.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

I just have to wait for all of the Computer sources to go back to a “Ready” state.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the behavior of File Server items in the monitoring plan.

Netwrix Auditor treats each monitoring plan as a unified configuration unit. Consequently, when changes are made to any single source, the entire plan undergoes revalidation and reinitialization to ensure:

  • Plan-wide consistency, including validation of dependencies and shared settings (e.g., collectors, processing services, or proxy configurations).
  • Configuration integrity, especially in cases where changes may indirectly affect other sources (e.g., agent communication, shared collection threads).

This approach, although ensuring system-wide integrity, can indeed cause delays, especially in larger environments or during iterative configuration adjustments.

The product does not currently support per-item updates or partial refreshes within monitoring plans.

Your feedback highlights a valid area for improvement. We’ve submitted this suggestion internally for consideration in future releases, specifically to enable:

Incremental or per-source configuration updates within monitoring plans to improve efficiency and user experience.

We appreciate your input, as it helps us enhance Netwrix Auditor functionality and usability.
