Support for RDCB bypass

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

NPS should support RDCB bypass in order to connect to a specific host in a RDS farm

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Using NPS to connect to a RDS farm, the connection is done via the Remote Desktop Connection Broker and as such, it is not possible to connect to a specific RDSH. Leveraging, the /admin option within NPS could solve the problem to allow a connection to a specific host.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

We are using the option “preferred RDS Host” for interactive app launch but it means we have to create an activity for each RDSH within a RDS farm.

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for the suggestion.

We will look into this. I believe there is a method that we can call in the proxy that will allow us to open an /Admin session on the target, but I need to verify, and then we can evaluate implementation of the feature and assess a timeline.

Hi,

In the latest version (25.08), the situation appears to have worsened. Occasionally, starting an RDP-based activity via RDCB to an RDS farm server results now in error 0x4 or 0x904. $

A ticket (#453680) has been raised, but it was not classified as a product defect. This is why implementing this feature request is imo important — every environment using RDS is likely to encounter this issue.

Regards
Benjamin

Thanks for this info, Benjamin!

At this time we don’t support RDCB bypass, but this information is helpful if we end up adding that support in the future.
