What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?
Enable Netwrix Auditor to support managed database services such as AWS RDS, removing the requirement for a standalone SQL Server instance.
Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.
As organizations increasingly migrate infrastructure to cloud platforms such as AWS, there is a growing preference to use managed database services (e.g., AWS RDS) instead of maintaining standalone SQL Server instances.
Currently, Netwrix Auditor appears to rely on:
• a full SQL Server deployment
• dependencies such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
This creates friction for customers adopting cloud-native architectures, where the goal is to:
• reduce infrastructure overhead
• avoid managing database servers
• leverage scalable, managed services
The dependency on SSRS and full SQL Server instances may prevent or complicate:
• deployment in AWS environments
• use of RDS or similar managed database offerings
• broader adoption of cloud-first strategies
Supporting managed database backends (e.g., AWS RDS for SQL Server or alternative architectures) would:
• simplify deployment in cloud environments
• reduce operational overhead
• align Auditor with modern infrastructure practices
This could include:
• validation of compatibility with RDS (SQL Server engine)
• reduced or removed dependency on SSRS where possible
• documented architecture patterns for cloud-native deployments
How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?
Organizations currently:
• deploy and maintain standalone SQL Server instances (including SSRS)
• migrate existing on-prem architecture to cloud VMs instead of modernizing
• accept increased infrastructure and operational cost to support Auditor
