Hello,
Is there a way to use M365 SMTP relay that allows to send emails without additional authentication?
PPE shows error “the email service does not support PLAIN authentication”.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Simonas,
Your M365 tenant will need to be configured to support SMTP AUTH, you can find instructions on the different options here, How to set up a multifunction device or application to send email using Microsoft 365 or Office 365 | Microsoft Learn.
As the long-term plan for Microsoft for SMTP is to move to OAUTH, we plan on releasing SMTP OAUTH support in the next release of PPE (11.1), which is planned for later this year.
Thank you for your fast reply. We’re using this link. I guess we’re doing configuration mistake, but do not know where exactly. Does screenshot gives any ideas?
You’ll want to make sure that SMTP auth is enabled for that mailbox. If your tenant is relatively new then it would be disabled by default, Enable or disable SMTP AUTH in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn.
Once you enable that, then your username and password should work.
Thank for your suggestions, it seems to be working now ! : )
