Integration with Jira and Gearset for Automated Change Logging

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Requesting an automated integration between Salesforce, Netwrix, Jira, and Gearset that eliminates manual change logging for Salesforce deployments, saving significant time and reducing duplicate work

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Implement an integration that automatically generates and manages Netwrix change logs based on Jira ticket status and Gearset deployment activities:

Automated Log Creation: When Salesforce changes are initiated in Jira, automatically create corresponding Netwrix change logs.

Status Synchronization: Automatically update Netwrix approval status when Jira tickets pass Jira stages (like “UAT” and “CAB Approval”)

Deployment Closure: Automatically close Netwrix logs when related Gearset deployments are completed.

Component Tracking: Pull component details directly from Jira/Gearset to populate Netwrix logs without manual entry.

Business Value
Time Savings: Saves admin time on every ticket deployment. Likely would eliminate 30+ minutes of manual documentation for large tickets.

Resource Optimization: Allows our team of 6+ Salesforce admins to focus on productive build work rather than administrative documentation.

Accuracy Improvement: Reduces risk of human error in change documentation. Having this automation in place at least gets something in when often-times we bail on the change log creation process if we cannot find an item or we have more pressing priorities.

Compliance Efficiency: Maintains thorough change records while reducing the administrative burden.

Team Satisfaction: Eliminates tedious duplicate work, improving team morale and productivity.

Target Users
This feature would benefit all Salesforce administration teams using Netwrix for compliance/change management alongside Jira and Gearset for development workflows.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Current Process
Currently, we must manually create Salesforce-related Netwrix change logs through the Jira/Salesforce integration tab. This involves individually documenting each component included in our tickets within Netwrix change items. For large tickets, this process can take 30+ minutes to complete and feels unnecessarily repetitive.

Hi @Jack.Michel.GPS ,

Thank you for your idea submission. I am going to reach out to you directly to schedule a health check. We should schedule a health check so we can gather some additional details. I think we could add some efficiencies ahead of an integration conversation.

Talk soon.

Hello Amy,

Thanks for this follow-up. We had an additional meeting as you directed for and it was very valuable for our team. We learned how to do XML exports from Gearset and import them into Netwrix, which definitely is a huge time saver on our huge tickets.

With this said, we still want to move forward towards an automated auditing/logging solution within our tools like we’ve posted here. I know Andre had some really good ideas when we discussed this further during our meeting.

Thank you again for your support!

Best,

Jack

Hi @Jack.Michel.GPS I’m really glad to hear that Andre was able to help you set up the manual import process — and that it’s saving your team a bunch of time per ticket. That’s exactly the kind of result we love to see!

At this point, we don’t have plans to move forward with an integration between Netwrix Platform Governance for Salesforce and Gearset. That said, we truly appreciate you bringing the idea forward and helping us understand how these kinds of automations could drive efficiency in your workflows.

Thanks again for your collaboration and for being open to alternate solutions. It’s great to see our team was able to help you reach the same outcome even without a formal integration.
