EPP Client - Request Access Submenu Visibility

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Add the ability to disable the duration option within the request access submenu of the device control menu on the EPP client.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

In the device control menu on the EPP client, the request access submenu presents users with a duration option. Administrators can already disable the temporary password option in that submenu, but there is currently no equivalent setting to disable the duration option, so it remains visible and usable to end users. Extending the ability to also remove the duration option would give administrators granular control over exactly which options are available in the EPP clients request access submenu.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

The current workaround is to disable the visibility of the client entirely. That hides the request access submenu, but it also removes the client from view altogether. Ideally the client would remain visible within the system tray while the request access submenu is hidden, so users retain client visibility without access to the request access submenu.

Hi Evan,

Thank you for the clear description and for outlining the current workaround — hiding the client entirely is clearly not an ideal trade-off when the goal is simply to restrict what’s available in the request access submenu.

We wanted to let you know that this will be partially addressed in a planned upcoming release. We’re introducing OTP automation improvements that will allow administrators to define the timeframe for issued OTPs directly, which reduces the relevance of the duration option being available on the client side. We don’t have a specific release date to share yet, but we’ll update this thread once it’s available.

In the meantime, we’ve noted the broader ask — giving administrators granular control over which options are visible in the request access submenu — as a separate improvement to consider going forward.

Thanks again for the feedback.
