What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?
As an engineer, I need to be able to edit specific devices in Global Rights or in Custom Classes.
Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.
When recording devices for exceptions, circumstances can change. I would like to be able to edit the entries for specific devices. While we VID, PID, and Serial Number may not change, the applied permissions may. For instance, an organization may start least restrictive of All Access and Remove from CAP scanning, but as their program matures, they may move to All Access and use CAP to restrict specific information to be configured in Content Aware Policies. It would be much more efficient to change one field in the line item instead of re-entering the entire line.
How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?
Currently, we have to re-create the entire line item.
We understand the value of being able to edit an existing device entry in Global Rights or Custom Classes without having to recreate the entire line item. As you pointed out, when permissions or exception handling change over time, being able to update a single field would make administration much more efficient.
Following internal discussions, this suggestion has been accepted for future consideration. It also aligns with a broader area we are planning to review around rights management and more granular role handling in Endpoint Protector. While we are not expecting to address requests in this area in the near term due to current priorities, we have noted your suggestion and its use case so it can be revisited as part of that broader review.
We appreciate you taking the time to describe both the problem and the current workaround. As this area progresses in our planning, we will share any relevant updates.
