What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Generate detailed documentation on Auditor reports to help users understand what is in them and how to use them.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

For certain open-text parameters like Object Path and User, I am not entirely sure what is acceptable to put in. Can I enter the wildcard character to search everything? Can I use a wildcard character at all? Can I enter an AD Group name as the User?

Also, there are times when I am not entirely sure what is included in the output. Does this SharePoint Online report show permissions only for direct access? Does it include permissions granted via sharing? Are there other limitations that I am not aware of?

I would like to see detailed documentation on all reports describing parameter inputs and the nuance of report output.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

It is trial and error until I hit a wall and have to reach out to Support.

Thank you for bringing this up and for sharing concrete examples.
We agree that clearer documentation on report parameters and outputs would be very helpful. While we have other priorities at the moment, this is valuable feedback and we’ll keep it in mind for future improvements.
