Apply FTP upload blocking in Windows File Explorer

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Ensure Endpoint Protector enforces denylist file restrictions for uploads via FTP in Windows File Explorer.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Currently, Endpoint Protector can enforce file-type restrictions and denylist policies for most applications, but uploads initiated via Windows File Explorer using FTP bypass these restrictions. This creates a security gap, as users can transfer files containing sensitive information to external servers without being blocked. Enhancing Endpoint Protector to enforce denylist rules for FTP uploads via File Explorer would close this gap, ensuring consistent policy enforcement across all access points and preventing unauthorized data exfiltration.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

At present, we use other monitoring tools that can detect FTP transfers, but they cannot block prohibited file uploads or provide alerts in the way we need.

Hello Karla,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

I’m happy to announce that this enhancement is already on our radar — our development team is currently exploring the possibility of adding visibility for the FTP protocol, which will address your use case as well.

Once the investigation is complete, we’ll share an update here to keep you posted on the progress.

Kind Regards,
Simona
