Virtual Appliances for Version 10.8 Released

I’m pleased to announce that the virtual appliances for Netwrix Auditor 10.8 are ready.

Note: The Virtual Appliances are pre-configured virtual servers that include a fresh installation of Netwrix Auditor and SQL Express. These are designed for customers who are trialing Netwrix Auditor or are new to the product.

If you are already using Netwrix Auditor—even if you initially deployed it via the Virtual Appliance—please refer to this post for guidance on downloading and upgrading to Netwrix Auditor 10.8.

Where can I find the release notes for this version?

Marc,

This is the same version that was released last week when we came out with Netwrix Auditor 10.8. This is only the virtual appliance version which is geared towards new customers or customers who need to start over with a fresh install.

Is it possible for your developers to come out with a virtual appliance that’s a Linux distro ?

Hello Tony,

Welcome to the Netwrix Community!

I wanted to clarify that the virtual appliance only needs to be downloaded for an initial Auditor installation. It’s primarily designed for customers who are evaluating the product or for smaller environments that prefer a single-server setup with Auditor and Microsoft SQL Express already configured, helping save time on server buildout.

For most production environments, however, we don’t recommend using the virtual appliance. SQL Express has limitations around database size, memory usage, and supported report export formats, which can impact scalability and performance.

For customers who already have Auditor installed—even if it was deployed using the virtual appliance—you would simply download the stand-alone installer from the My Products page in the Customer Portal.

The virtual appliances are currently available as Hyper-V or VMware virtual machines running Windows Server 2019 or 2022. If you have suggestions for additional deployment options, we encourage you to share them in our Ideas Portal. Our Product Management team reviews submissions there regularly:
