What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

When both group contacts don’t respond, hold election with a subset of group members to ask who should own group.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Problem is that many groups have ZERO owner, and some groups that have owners go orphan entirely. We need a feature to use workflow to poll a subset of group members asking for group contact nominations. After a defined number of rounds, should be assigned back to service admins for investigation.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

We do nothing, there is nothing to do. At scale we don’t have enough people to figure this out and more and more groups go orphan from which there is no recovery.

I have a few more questions I’d like to get your thoughts/clarification on.

  • Should the workflow poll a subset of group members or all members, with logic that adapts based on group size? Would you have a preferred voting size?
  • Should we suggest a potential owner based on available signals or rely purely on an election?
  • Should the winner be auto-assigned as owner, or should results be reported to an administrator for final approval?
  • Beyond electing an owner, should other outcomes (for example, recommending group removal) be included, or should this remain strictly an election flow?
