Netwrix Reverse Access Gateway

I wanted to create this post to hear from other users of Netwrix Privilege Secure. I can’t seem to get any information about the Reverse Access Gateway piece and am curious if others are having similar issues. The product is pitched as allowing remote access but also includes web SSH and web RDP which seem like the most appealing part to me. Working with support seems to be going no where in terms of getting any technical docs or installation material for the product and I’m curious if anyone else has had a similar experience or if everyone (if anyone is) that uses the reverse access gateway just paid for the “recommended” professional services?

If anyone has been able to setup the RAG I would love to hear about the experience and if the product works as intended or if there are any issues or things you wish you knew. I’d also love to hear how the heck you got a hold of the install material!

Hey David,

Hope all has been well. I’ve a few links to info about the Secure Remote Access addition to NPS-AM. See:

I also know a fair amount and can answer any questions you have (or find the answer). Let me know!

Thanks a ton for the documents Adam. Unfortunately, those are all the docs I have already seen. The core issue here is that everyone (including support) seems to say that professional services are recommended for setting up the RAG, but I see absolutely no way for me to go about doing the install myself. I don’t have access to an installer from my software downloads, there is no documentation on the install process, and no list of technical requirements as per what hardware requirements are. It feels like this “recommendation” for professional services is more like an absolute requirement. I got the attached datasheet that specifically describes the deployment as “quick and seamless” so I see no need for paid services to run an installer.

That all being said, the biggest attraction to the RAG was the web RDP and web SSH functionality. The clunkiest part of using NPS is having to download RDP files and run them, or setting up the SSH launcher. Ideally, we would simply use the RAG internally in front of the Netwrix nodes to enable using web RDP internally. If you have any input on that front, or if you can guide me in the direction of getting the actual installer files and installation instructions, it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT

I got installation instructions from our account manager, but I do not understand why these documents aren’t on the official documentation site. I’m not sure how a product is released and then effectively unsupported instantly.

Hi David,

I totally understand your concerns. I’m going to reach out to you via email and we can schedule a call to discuss Secure Remote Access (previously known as RAG) and get it up and running in your environment if you’d like.

Thanks for raising this here David. I will be reviewing the open support ticket and working with the teams to make sure we can get this setup with you.
