Need clickable option for example an URL that is pasted in the Description Box of a Group Type in "Custom Display Types" - GroupID 11

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Description Box for a “GroupType” in “Custom Display Types” - GroupID 11 should recognize a URL

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

We are using the ‘Description’ field against the ‘Group Type’ attribute so that when users try to create a security or a distribution group, they can read the description to understand what each type of group is used for. For now, we have typed an internal URL inside the description value, which the users have to copy and open in a new tab to read it. This has been accomplished by editing the Custom display type for ‘GroupType’ attribute from the design node and entering a value against the description fields. An example is attached to this feature request.

As we are using a URL inside the description instead of text, we want this field/value to be clickable so that users can click on it and read about it when the URL opens on a new page.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

The only workaround is that users are pasting the URL manually in a browser.

Upload any supporting images that you think should be considered in this idea.

Thank you for the feedback. To provide for this functionality, we are looking to create a custom display type so that handling can be done for any type of URL including action type (open in new window for example). This feature is now being actively reviewed for future improvement.

Hi Jonathan,

Would appreciate if you can give an ETA on this. With GID11 upgrade this is one of the things we are broadcasting as a new change to the end users.
