Enable Partial Match and Flexible Search in Netwrix Data Classification

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Allow search functionality to return results for partial keywords, substrings, and incomplete numeric values instead of requiring exact matches.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Currently, the search functionality in Netwrix Data Classification only returns results when the exact full word or number is entered. Partial searches (such as entering part of a keyword, filename, or numeric string) do not return any results.

This creates a significant limitation in real-world use cases where users may not know the exact value they are searching for. For example, when investigating sensitive data like PII or PCI, analysts often rely on partial information.

This feature request proposes enhancing the search capability to support:

Partial keyword matching (substring search)
Wildcard search (e.g., * or ?)
Fuzzy search (approximate matches)
Optional advanced operators (contains, starts with, etc.)

This would align the product with modern search standards and greatly improve usability, efficiency, and investigation workflows.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Currently, we must:

Enter the exact full keyword or number to retrieve results
Manually review classified documents under the Content section
Perform multiple trial-and-error searches with different variations
Rely on classification tags instead of search when exact values are unknown

This approach is time-consuming and inefficient, especially when dealing with large datasets.

Thanks for sharing this request, Nick! Helpful to see how you’re thinking about it.

I’ve added it to our backlog so we have it captured. I’m not sure if/where it will happen, but we’ll keep it in mind for future planning.

If you have more examples or run into specific pain points around this, feel free to send them over.

Appreciate the input.
