Dell NAS monitoring

We are migrating our Windows file shares to a Dell PowerStore NAS. Our test environment is at ver 12. I found some documentation for Dell NAS configs that applies to Auditor ver 10, I am assuming those settings would apply to the latest version.

Are there any issues we should be aware of as we attempt to monitor the SMB shares on a NAS?

Great question! If you are indeed talking about Dell PowerStore and not Dell PowerScale, then it does not look like there is official Netwrix Access Analyzer support for it. You may be able to scan the SMB share, however, to have full picture with activity it’s likely not going to work as you’d expect. Dell PowerScale (Isilon) is supported though.

Here is the current list of support File System platforms in Netwrix Access Analyzer v12

I’d suggest opening a case with Netwrix support to validate support for Dell PowerStore NAS just in case it’s not currently documented.

I concur with Justin’s suggestion here.

Note that if you are interested in activity via Netwrix Activity Monitor, we do have a documented process for PowerStore activity auditing using Netwix Activity Monitor but formal documentation for PowerStore support in Netwrix Access Analyzer does not exist.

Contacting Netwrix support is the best next step - with fuller context it will be easier to determine where to go from there.

Thank you! We were thinking that contacting support as well.

You are welcome, glad to help!
