Data classification & Auditor Reports

Hi everyone,

I’ve set up a Monitoring Plan in Auditor 10.8 and configured its source as a file server in order to audit all shares.

On the Data Classification side, however, I can only define/declare shares (not the whole server).

My question is:

  • Will the association between Auditor and Data Classification be handled automatically based on the file server monitoring,
    or
  • Do I need to manually add/declare the shares in my monitoring plan (or in Data Classification) one by one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello!

Thanks for the post. In Data Classification, you can actually add an entire File Server. When adding a source, if you scroll down to the bottom, you’ll see an option for File Server. I’ve included a screenshot for reference. If you don’t see this option, please let me know.

Thanks @mpurdin for the answers, I miss this one, so if I add in both side my server directly I ll not have any correlations problems in Auditor right ?

You are correct @Stabz . You’ll need to wait until the newly added File Server completes it’s classification in NDC and then Auditor will need to do its overnight State-in-Time process but then the two will match. You’ll want to make sure you enter them in the same way. Meaning if you use the FQDN in Auditor, it’s best to use the FQDN in Data Classification as well. I wouldn’t do one as FILE01 and the other as FILE01.PURDIN.LOCAL.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.
