Add “Scanners” as a new, predefined Device Type in the EPP Server under the Device Control section.
Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.
Currently, scanners are not recognized as a distinct Device Type within the EPP Server’s Device Control module, which makes managing them across an organization cumbersome. Administrators must manually identify and add scanner devices on a case-by-case basis, leading to inefficiencies and inconsistent enforcement of security policies. By introducing a dedicated “Scanners” device category, Endpoint Protector would allow for centralized, consistent management and rights assignment for all scanner hardware. This streamlines policy creation and improves the overall security posture by ensuring that scanner usage is monitored and controlled just like USBs, printers, or external drives.
How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?
We manually identify scanner devices and add them individually to the policy list, which is time-consuming and difficult to scale in larger environments. This manual process also increases the risk of misconfiguration or oversight, potentially allowing unauthorized scanning of sensitive documents without proper control or audit visibility.
