What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Add Native Support for Roles (not Resource or Credential based access)

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

We are using NPS to put users into an existing Active Directory Group to grant them permissions based on their “Role”. Not granting access to specific resources. But we have to create a “Dummy” resource (fake website) that gives them a “Job Based Role” Resource object in order to create the policy

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

As above, we create a Dummy Resource, that can be assigned to the policy for their Role

Fully agree here, the lack of workflow to accommodate this feels like a big gap. We also have ended up using a dummy website for these purposes because if you even try to tie this to an AD resource, it will break.

Hi Brett & David,

This is on our roadmap, and hopefully one of the next handful of new features we’ll work on. We’re going to add Roles as resources, specifically:

  • Active Directory Groups
  • Oracle Roles
  • SQL Roles
