Overview
This release delivers a new Power Automate integration, usability improvements to the group management interface, a global co-management setting for My Groups, and History table performance improvements. It also includes targeted bug fixes across upgrade, authentication, dynasties, Smart Groups, Elasticsearch, and user management.

Known Limitation — Load Balancer Configurations
Customers with a load balancer (of any type) configured in front of their Netwrix Directory Manager deployment should not upgrade to 11.1.8 at this time. A compatibility issue affecting load-balanced environments has been identified during release testing. Guidance for affected customers will follow separately; please contact Support before upgrading if your environment uses a load balancer.
Notice: Update Manager Retired
The utility referred to as “Update Manager,” previously used by some customers to obtain patches for Netwrix Directory Manager (NDM), has been retired and is no longer available. Update Manager was never an officially released or supported Netwrix product. Patch and hotfix delivery for NDM is now handled through the centralized Netwrix release service at releases.netwrix.com. Customers no longer need Update Manager and should not use or download any tool by that name, including from previously bookmarked links, as it is no longer maintained by Netwrix.
Notice: Directory Manager as Identity Provider (Deprecation)
As previously announced in the 11.1.7 release notes: Netwrix Directory Manager has historically supported use as an Identity Provider (IDP), enabling applications to authenticate users directly through Directory Manager.
Directory Manager will be removed as a supported Identity Provider starting with the 11.2 release. This notice is provided in advance so customers using this capability have sufficient time to plan and transition to an alternative Identity Provider.
Customers currently using Directory Manager as an Identity Provider should begin evaluating alternative IDP solutions now and complete their transition before upgrading to 11.2. We recommend reviewing your authentication architecture and identifying a replacement ahead of the 11.2 upgrade window.

Notice: Entitlements and Insights (Planned Deprecation)
As we continue to mature Netwrix Directory Manager and invest in new capabilities, the Entitlements and Insights add-on (file server and SharePoint Online permission visibility, including the self-service access request area of the Client Portal) is being deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
What this means for you:
- No functionality changes are included in this release — this notice is provided in advance so affected customers can plan ahead.
- A specific removal release has not been finalized; further detail will be communicated ahead of time.
- If your organization currently uses this functionality and has questions about how this change may affect your environment, please contact Netwrix Support.
Notice: .NET Runtime Upgrade (Coming in 11.2)
Netwrix Directory Manager will be upgraded to run on .NET 10 (the current Long-Term Support release) starting with the 11.2 release. This is not part of 11.1.8 — it is included here as advance notice so you can plan ahead.
What is changing: NDM’s underlying .NET runtime is moving from .NET 8 to .NET 10.
Why: .NET 8 reaches End of Support from Microsoft in May 2026. Upgrading keeps NDM on a supported, actively patched runtime and avoids running on an unsupported platform.
What this means for you:
- Servers hosting NDM components (Data Service, Scheduler Service, STS, Admin Center, Client Portal, and related engines) will need the .NET 10 runtime installed before upgrading to 11.2. Updated prerequisite and upgrade documentation will be published ahead of the 11.2 release.
- If you have custom scripts, integrations, or extensions that depend on .NET Framework or .NET 8-specific behavior, review them against .NET 10 compatibility ahead of your 11.2 upgrade window.
- No action is required for the 11.1.8 upgrade. This notice applies to 11.2 planning only.
- Exact scope (which components are covered) and a migration checklist will be confirmed closer to the 11.2 release.
New Features & Enhancements
Power Automate Integration
Directory Manager now integrates with Microsoft Power Automate, enabling administrators to configure automated workflows that respond to directory events. The integration introduces a dedicated proxy and callback endpoint within the Admin Center.
My Groups: Co-Managed Global Setting
A new global toggle has been added in Admin Center to control co-managed group visibility in My Groups across all portals. Previously, this was a per-user portal preference; the new setting allows administrators to establish a consistent default behaviour at the environment level.
History Table Performance Improvements
Two targeted database indexing improvements have been applied to the History table:
- A non-clustered index has been added on
HistoryIdto reduce query scan time for history lookups. - The include-column list on the existing index has been extended to cover additional columns accessed by common history queries, reducing the need for key lookups.
