Added versioned HIBP database files with status and update history
The Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) compromised-password database files are now versioned, so administrators can tell exactly when the database was last updated. The current database version and update status are now displayed in both the database update tool and the password scanner, giving administrators clear visibility into whether they’re running the latest compromised-password data.
Added notifications for an outdated compromised-password database
Password Policy Enforcer now proactively alerts administrators when the compromised-password (HIBP) database in use is out of date. Whenever the PPE service starts or restarts, it checks your configured policies, and if a policy with compromised-password checking enabled is relying on an outdated database, it raises a Windows Event Viewer entry and sends an email to the administrator address configured for the scanner. No setup is required beyond having an admin notification email already configured in the scanner; the check runs automatically on every service start or restart.
Bug Fixes and Miscellaneous Updates
- Moved the Add Dictionary button below the primary dictionary for clarity
- Standardized dictionary rule names to Primary Dictionary and Secondary Dictionary
- Renamed the Passphrase tab to Passphrases for naming consistency
- Fixed local password policy not applying to local accounts unless set as the default policy
- Restored email addresses in PPE Mailer /Send output
