MTP and SMB file tracking should be implemented on Linux.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Hello.

Linux SMB and MTP tracking is a feature that many customers and partners have been requesting

Windows - MTP File Trace : Support, But very difficult to install and recognize the driver for tracking files on an MTP device

MTP device recognition and feature enforcement on Windows should be easily implemented within the EPP

Linux - SMB File Trace : Not Support
Linux - SMB CAP : Not Support
Linux - MTP File Trace : Not Support
Linux - MTP CAP : Not Support

This is a feature that many customers have been waiting for since the CoSoSys era, and I myself have been waiting for nearly 10 years. However, it still has not been implemented.

This is a critical differentiator between us and competing products.
We kindly ask for your positive consideration.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Files exported from Linux and MTP devices cannot be tracked or logged.

Following a thorough internal review, we’re pleased to affirm the validity of this request.
We will embark on an in-depth technical analysis and explore approaches for integrating MTP and SMB file monitoring on Linux.
However, while we are eager to pursue this initiative, please understand that we are unable to provide a specific timeline at this moment due to our fully committed short-to-mid-term roadmap.

As you are well aware, SMB and MTP tracking is considered a core function of Linux DLP.

From the perspective of customer data protection, we believe this feature is essential and must be implemented.
