Microsoft Exchange Security Update (June 9, 2026) – High Severity

If your organization uses Netwrix Threat Prevention to monitor Exchange activity, the following Microsoft security update requires your attention before deployment. This issue affects all current Netwrix Threat Prevention Windows Agent versions. There is no adverse impact on Exchange Server operation itself if the KB is deployed; however, Exchange event monitoring through Netwrix Threat Prevention will be lost until the updated Netwrix Threat Prevention Windows Agent is installed. An updated Agent build is planned for release on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

On June 9, 2026, Microsoft released KB5094139, a security update for Exchange Server Subscription Edition RTM (Security Update 7), which conflicts with existing Netwrix Threat Prevention Agent versions. If this update is applied to your Exchange servers prior to updating the Netwrix Threat Prevention Agent, Exchange event monitoring will be lost but there will be no adverse impact to the operation of your Exchange servers.

If Exchange event monitoring is critical to your organization Netwrix recommends delaying the deployment of KB5094139 to Exchange servers until the updated Netwrix Threat Prevention Agent has been successfully installed. If KB5094139 has already been applied, please update the Netwrix Threat Prevention Agent immediately upon release to restore Exchange monitoring.

The Netwrix development and QA teams are completing validation of an updated agent build compatible with Exchange SE RTM SU7. The build is planned for release on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. A follow-up notice will be posted once the updated agent is available for download.

Impact:

Functional:

Installing Exchange Server SE RTM Security Update 7 (KB5094139) is not supported with any current Netwrix Threat Prevention Windows Agent version. Upgrading Exchange to SU7 before updating the Agent will result in loss of Exchange event monitoring, regardless of the installed NTP Agent version.

Stability:

No stability impact on Exchange Server itself. The Exchange Server service will continue to operate normally; only NTP Exchange event monitoring is affected.
