I’m looking for a technical documentation for Policy Enforcer.
Something with schema and explanation how PPE replace Active Directory for password change.

Is there something like this somewhere ?

PPE does not require any changes to the AD schema. At its core PPE installs a Password Filter on the domain controller and that is where the password policy is enforced. You can find more about password filters here, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/secmgmt/password-filters. All configuration data is stored in Active Directory and is read by the password filter.

That is the basic way of how PPE works. The documentation will have some additional information but we don’t explicitly link to the Microsoft documentation for password filters.

Thanks, Tyler. I think you should include a link to the Microsoft documentation in the Help Center article. It doesn’t even mention that PPE uses the LSA process.
