Implementing an Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solution on-premises comes with its own set of challenges, particularly when configuring custom URLs and certificates to align with your organization’s standards. For many teams, setting up a local server is an effective way to test configuration changes, validate integrations, and maintain direct control over sensitive identity data.
Description
To support these needs, we’ve created a straightforward guide to help you install Netwrix Identity Manager on-premises quickly and easily: How to install an IGA Core Solution server.
This resource focuses on the essential steps for a functional installation, making it accessible for first-time deployments or testing scenarios, while not aiming to provide exhaustive coverage of every advanced option.
Deploying a local IGA server enables you to:
Experiment with configuration updates and customizations in a test environment,
Verify integration setups before production rollout,
Support advanced and edge-case scenarios,
Enable rapid iteration and learning.
Refer to this guide for a simple and streamlined installation experience and accelerate your journey with Netwrix Identity Manager.
Thank you @BOUTOT! I wish I had this when I started with Netwrix Identity Manager.
Would it be possible to create something similar on how to set up the demo environment from the SDK? This would be useful when onboarding new team members and training them.
Also, in all the slides I’ve read from Netwrix Identity Manager, I see that encrypt=false is used. Wouldn’t it be better to use trustServerCertificate=true instead? It’s still not secure, but the data will at least be encrypted. I don’t see why we use encrypt=false in the database connection string.
Indeed, this document is meant to be a quick and minimal guide, while still ensuring that the necessary requirements are understood. It is therefore up to you to choose the appropriate configuration. I did not select the demonstration option because it is not suitable for project launch; it is only intended for capacity assessment. Use the UsercubeDemo directory if you prefer.
Finally, it’s also your responsibility to configure the database connection string according to the customer’s security requirements, and not simply using the Dev mode provided in this document. The same applies to all hardening parameters (encrypt, certificate, …), which must be adapted to customer requirements.
