Feature Request: NIST Compliance Templates

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Requesting updated NIST 800-171 and NIST 800-53 compliance templates in Change Tracker.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

In the past, Netwrix offered NIST compliance templates in Change Tracker. These templates are no longer made available and are not offered for newer operating systems such as Windows Server 2025. Netwrix’s latest documentation for Change Tracker states that the product supports NIST compliance templates, so it is disappointing that they are not available. This feature would save my team a lot of time when it comes to audits for NIST controls on our systems.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Currently, we have been directed to use CIS documentation for CIS-to-NIST control mapping. These mappings are cumbersome. There is also no way to report on these mappings natively in Change Tracker.

Upload any supporting images that you think should be considered in this idea.

Hi Joshua,

Welcome to the Netwrix Community! Thank you for this request.

We actually have this in progress for Windows Server 2025. Let me sync up with the rest of the team and get back to you on availability.

Hi Joshua,

I’ve attached a zip that contains all our NIST reports as XMLs, including Windows Server 2025 for both NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171.

Change Tracker NIST Reports.zip (4.0 MB)

To upload a report XML template in Change Tracker:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Policy Templates
  2. Select the Action button
  3. Choose Upload Template
  4. Upload the latest report XML

Please let me know if this helps and if you’d also like to see these XMLs added to the Customer Portal for download (including future updated reports).

Thank you Dan. This is very helpful. Any plans for Ubuntu and more current ESXi versions (specifically ESXi 8)?

I can look into that!

Which Ubuntu versions are you interested in? Any ESXi versions other than 8?
