What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Being able to simulate a deployment in SAAS

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

According to the documentation, the Usercube-Deploy-Configuration.exe command has a simulation mode with the options --simulate-only and --dump-changes-directory.

This is useful for reviewing a report of the changes that will be applied to the targeted environment BEFORE DEPLOYMENT. This way, you can verify that the deployed configuration matches what you intended to deploy, and that there won’t be any unpleasant surprises!

However, this doesn’t work in SAAS—only ON-PREMISE.

It would be really great to have this feature in SAAS.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

If a major issue is discovered AFTER deployment, we have to submit a request to restore the database.

Thank you for your submission. This would be a great benefit for our SaaS clients. We will review the possibility of adding this soon with the team and update this idea.

Is this change request planned in the NIM product roadmap?

Here is the error message you get when trying it on SaaS:

@kate.flemo the lower pre-production environment isn’t necessarily in sync with production, in terms of configuration versions. Sometimes it will be behind, sometimes ahead of production. Not all of our configuration versions are necessarily deployed in every environment.

That’s why it would be really useful if the --simulate-only option worked in SaaS and let us easily see the configuration gap between the config present in the environment and the one we’re about to deploy.
