Support Telegram Desktop/Web for Text Inspection and DLP Protection

Which aspect of EPP are you submitting for?

Endpoint Protector Client

What is a one sentence summary of your feature request?

Please add Telegram Desktop/Web support for text inspection and DLP protection.

Please describe your idea in detail. What is your problem, why do you feel this idea is the best solution, etc.

Many enterprise customers use Telegram as a business communication platform alongside applications such as Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Currently, Endpoint Protector does not provide support for Telegram text inspection, leaving Telegram as a blind spot in DLP protection. As a result, organizations cannot apply the same level of security policies to Telegram as they do to other collaboration platforms.

We would like Endpoint Protector to support the following capabilities for Telegram Desktop/Web:

  • Text content inspection
  • Sensitive data detection
  • Content-aware DLP policy enforcement
  • Blocking or remediation based on policy violations
  • Logging and auditing of policy events

Even if full functionality cannot be implemented immediately, providing basic text inspection support would significantly improve security for organizations that use Telegram for business communication.

As Telegram continues to gain adoption in enterprise environments, adding official support would expand Endpoint Protector’s application coverage and increase its value for existing and future customers.

How do you currently solve the challenges you have by not having this feature?

Currently, there is no effective workaround.

Organizations must either:

  • Allow Telegram communications without DLP inspection, increasing the risk of sensitive data leakage, or
  • Block Telegram entirely, which is often impractical because many organizations use it for legitimate business communication.

Native Telegram support would provide a much better balance between security and usability.
